Abstract

Due to their extremely small coherence length many high temperature superconductors from natural superconducting multilayers. Adjacent superconducting layers are weakly coupled by the Josephson effect. As a result, single crystals act intrinsically as vertical stacks of hundreds of Josephson junctions. In this paper we will, after summarizing the current state of knowledge, present several recent results on intrinsic Josephson effects.
