Abstract

An 82-year-old woman presented with abdominal colic. She had a 20-year history of type 2 diabetes and a 2-year history of recurrent urinary tract infections despite many courses of antimicrobial therapy. She lived in a long-term care facility. An abdominal radiograph showed a large stone in her bladder, with a foreign body in the center of the stone (Panel A).
