Abstract
Although stents reduce coronary restenosis compared with balloon angioplasty,1,2 stents trigger an exaggerated intimal hyperplasia response that is considered the primary mechanism of in-stent restenosis (ISR).3,4 Brachytherapy has emerged as a promising alternative to reduce the recurrence of ISR.5–8 We report the intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) volumetric analysis from the Saphenous Vein Graft Washington Radiation In-stent Restenosis Trial (SVG WRIST), a prospective, multicentered, double-blinded, randomized study.
