Abstract

Intrathecally synthesised IgM can be seen not only in the CSF of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the CNS but also in the CSF of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). In MS intrathecal IgM synthesis seems to correlate with an unfavorable disease course. In a cross-sectional study intrathecal synthesis of IgM (IgM index) was found to be correlated with cranial MRI parameters.
