Abstract

13 cases of intraspinal lipomas are presented. Review of the literature demonstrates the frequency, according to different authors, between true lipomas and lipomas associated with spina bifida. Etiology, clinical characteristics, and radiological findings of these cases are discussed. Finally, we stress the importance of early surgical treatment to avoid any neurological deficit.
