Although some evidence suggests that intrapartum fetal heart rate (FHR) monitoring is associated with a reduction in intrapartum death, a reduction in long-term neurological impairment or cerebral palsy (CP) has not been proven. However, continuous intrapartum FHR monitoring resulted in more cesarean deliveries (CDs) for abnormal FHR patterns.
