Abstract
Intraoperative procedures of ultrasound (US) are unique applications of medical US; intraoperative US (IOUS) is usually performed by surgeons in the operating room and its result directly affects the outcome of surgery immediately. Although IOUS was first attempted in the 1960s, its wide application in various surgical fields with clinical evaluation occurred in the 1980s. During the last 2 decades, remarkable achievement has been made in the use of IOUS.
