Abstract

The intralobular distribution of silver grains overlying liver parenchymal cell nuclei in the autoradiogram is studied 60 min after cytidine-5-3H labeling of rats at various intervals following partial hepatectomy. 2 hr after surgery the distribution of nuclear label is practically equal between the periphery and the center of the lobule. After a regenerative period of 8 hr, silver grain density decreases from the periphery toward the center of the lobule. From this time the gradient of silver grain density after cytidine-3H labeling corresponds to the thymidine-3H labeling index of hepatocytes decreasing from periphery to center of the liver lobule at the start of DNA synthesis after partial hepatectomy.
