Abstract

This paper examines the perceptions of intrafamilial conflict among those who reside (co-habitants) with electronically monitored felony probationers and parolees. The purpose of this study is to provide a rudimentary empirical exploration into levels of intrafamilial conflict among felons under community supervision, in relation to socio-demographic and other variables associated with problematic levels of conflict. The Beck Depression Inventory, and specially designed questions are used as independent variables in statistical anylyses that attempt to identify family environmental variables in relationship to each other and to demographic and other variables as predictors of intrafamilial conflict within this population. Data pertinent to these were collected on probationer and parolee co-habitants from two county probation departments and two offices of a state parole department.
