Intracranial tumors presenting in the first year of life: imaging features

Abstract

Intracranial tumors presenting in the 1st year of life differ from those in later childhood in clinical presentation, anatomical distribution, and histopathological type. Many of these tumors are very large at the time of presentation. Supratentorial tumors are more common in the 1st year of life than posterior fossa tumors. The suprasellar location is more common during the 1st year of life than during the rest of the pediatric age group as a whole.
