Abstract
Temporal lobe mass lesions may result in neurologic deterioration in the absence of elevated intracranial pressure. One possible mechanism is direct compression of the midbrain by the enlarged temporal lobe. We have attempted to study such a mechanism in an animal model by creating an expanding left temporal lobe mass while measuring pressures within the left temporal lobe, midbrain, and either the right frontal lobe or right lateral ventricle.
