Abstract
Steroids might be an efficacious medication for preservation of remaining cochlear function during and after cochlear implantation. As systemic application of steroids often produces side effects, and because of the blood–labyrinth barrier, the efficacy of systemic inner-ear drug delivery remains controversial. In this study, we investigated the effects of local application of steroid on acoustic hearing in guinea pigs.
