Abstract
Intra-sire regression of offspring on dam was employed to estimate the heritability of five week body weight in Japanese quail. A total of 413 offspring from 28 sires of 64 dams were measured. Heritabilities of 0.44 ± 0.31 and 0.24 ± 0.22 were obtained from daughter-dam and son-dam regressions, respectively.
