Abstract

OBJECTIVE: : Stroke as a cause of death ranks 3rd in our country as well as in the world. Furthermore, it causes a loss of labor especially with middle-aged patients because it generates morbidity. While more than 80% of the strokes are of ischemic origin, you get good and rapid results with acute ischemic stroke treatment. We want to present data of our patients who had intra-arterial treatment in our clinic. MATERIAL and METHODS: In our study, between the years 2008-2013, we 40 patients were evaluated retropectively collected data in our a neurological emergency intra-arterial thrombolytic therapy accompanied with DSA by radiology department to the patients who were admitted to the emergency department with stroke and had deficit in the neurological examination but non-cranial hemorrhage on CT. RESULTS: There were 27 (67.5%) male and 13 (32.5%) female patients and the average age was 63.5 (23-78). The NIHSS scores were 7 – 29 (20.5 on average) and the first initial neurological examination. The intra-aretriel thrombolytic dose applied to the patients was 12 mg (6-20mg). The NIHSS scores after 24 hours were between 7 – 24 (6-20mg on average). After the Intra-arterial treatment was observed reduction in the average score NIHS on the 24 hours. CONCLUSION: Nowadays, intra-arterial therapy in acute ischemic stroke treatment, which is approved, is applied. We observed that the clinical status of the patients who had complete recanalisation and partial recanalisation were better in their 3th month. With this study, we wanted to share our experience in intra-arterial thrombolytic therapy and emphasize the need of larger series of data in literature
