Abstract

SESSION TITLE: Chest Infections and Disorders of the Pleura Abstract PostersSESSION TYPE: Original Investigation PostersPRESENTED ON: 10/18/2022 01:30 pm - 02:30 pmPURPOSE: Behcet's disease (BD) is systemic vasculitis, which affects all types and sizes of vessels. Increased carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) is parameter associated with subclinical atherosclerosis. To evaluate the IMT of carotid artery in patients with BDMETHODS: The study includes 95 patient with BD 45 healthy controls matched for age and gender. IMT were assessed by using high-resolution B-mode ultrasonography. High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (Hs CRP) concentration in the serum samples were measured by immunonephelometric assay (BN-100 Analyzer; Dade Behring).RESULTS: The male-to-female ratio was 3,7:1, the mean age of pts was 29.7 (23-35) yrs, the mean age at the disease onset - 19,9 (14-25) yrs, the mean disease duration - 9,6 (4-15) yrs. Arterial hypertension, smoked, diabetes mellitus, lipid profile, mean IMT carotid artery, IMT > 0,5-0,89 mm, IMT - 0,9 - 1,2 mm, IMT > 1,2 mm (plaques) were similar in BD pts compared with controls. In pts thinning IMT and concentration of hs CRP were significantly higher compared with controls (IMT <0,5 mm - 31,6% vs. 6,6%, p<0,05), (hs CRP 2,42 +-21,0 vs. 0,3 +-0,63, p <0,05). IMT correlate with age of pts, concentration of total cholesterol, LDL and hs CRP but did not created with clinical manifestation and disease duration. Carotid atherosclerotic plaques were found in 5 pts with BD - mean age 40,0+-8,1, who had traditional cardiovascular risk factors (high body masse index, hypertension) and received long time therapy with glucocorticoids.CONCLUSIONS: The thickness IMT in BD pts was lower than what we expected. The thinning IMT may be one of the risk factors for aneurysm formation in pts with BD.CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: The thinning IMT may be one of the risk factors for aneurysm formation in pts with BD.DISCLOSURES: No relevant relationships by Zemfira AlekberovaNo relevant relationships by Lidia AnanyevaNo relevant relationships by Regina Goloeva SESSION TITLE: Chest Infections and Disorders of the Pleura Abstract Posters SESSION TYPE: Original Investigation Posters PRESENTED ON: 10/18/2022 01:30 pm - 02:30 pm PURPOSE: Behcet's disease (BD) is systemic vasculitis, which affects all types and sizes of vessels.
