Abstract

Intestinal parasitosis is caused by endoparasites that cause damage to the health of the affected person. These diseases, mainly linked to the conditions of hygiene and basic sanitation, can interfere with the performance of schoolchildren. The objective of this study was to carry out health education actions on intestinal parasitosis with 75 students in the second year of high school in the State of Pará, Brazil. Actions were carried out: school cleaning campaign; manufacture and organization of garbage collectors; collection of hygiene materials; lecture on parasitosis; Creation of cleaning duct: construction of a manual and didactic game. Two stages of parasitological examinations of feces were carried out on the students. The first stage was carried out before the prevention and treatment actions and the second after six months. A pre-test questionnaire (before the activities) and post-test questionnaire (after the activities) were applied. In the first stage of examinations, there was a prevalence of 53% of parasitic infestations in students. After the actions, there was a reduction to 25%, demonstrating that the treatment with dewormers and the actions developed contributed to the reduction of infestations, which shows the effectiveness of direct actions involving students to control these diseases.
