Abstract

This chapter discusses interviewing in qualitative research. It acknowledges the interview as the most widely used method in qualitative research, citing how ethnography often involves a substantial amount of interviewing. However, unlike quantitative research, interviews in qualitative research are either unstructured or semi-structured while also putting great emphasis on the interviewee's point of view. The chapter then details the questions and process of the interview for qualitative research, which includes recording, transcription, and translation. It also notes the types of non-face-to-face interviews that became widespread due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the advantages and disadvantages of interviewing in qualitative research.
