Abstract

KG: As a newly hired chief nurse executive for the UCLA Health enterprise, I am learning a new level of nursing leadership. In the past, I was operationally responsible for the majority of areas where nursing practice and care delivery occurred. Today, I am a leader in a matrix organization and have system-wide responsibility for nursing practice and the delivery of care, with little direct responsibility for the day-to-day clinical operation. Setting a vision for nursing and assuring that nursing is at all of the right places to advocate for the patient and assure that each patient's voice is heard.
