Abstract

Charles DeCarli is Professor of Neurology at the University of California in Davis (CA, USA) and recipient of the Victor and Genevieve Orsi Chair in Alzheimer’s Research. He is the Director of the University of California in Davis Alzheimer’s Disease Center, an NIH-funded Alzheimer’s research center. He is also Director of the Imaging of Dementia and Aging laboratory. His research focuses on using advanced structural and functional brain imaging to study normal aging, mild cognitive impairment and dementia, as well as the role of genetics, and cerebrovascular and Alzheimer’s disease on these processes. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed journal articles in high-impact journals such as Brain, Lancet Neurology and Nature Genetics. He is a recipient of the J Allyn Taylor International Prize in Medicine–Imaging of the Aging Brain in recognition of his work. In addition, DeCarli is the Editor-in-Chief of Alzheimer Disease and Associated Disorders, an international journal of Alzheimer’s disease research.
