Abstract
Abstract: Institute for democracy and cooperation is the first non-profit nonstate organization, set up to become a link between American think tanks and research centers, civil society institutions, universities and Russian intellectual and research centers and political and societal organizations. The IDC director Andranik Migranyan tells about the project of fundamental international research Democracy in the Russian mirror on the basis of the IDC and its significance for the world intellectual community and for Russia, about the project’s American comanager and co-editor Adam Przeworski, on the participants’ selection criteria. Project discussions were held in New York and in Moscow at MGIMO faculty of politics. A. Migranyan evaluates the results of work, the project workshops in Moscow and New York and makes tentative plans for joint follow-up research.

Критерии отбора участников были для нас совершенно очевидными, во-первых, у Адама был огромный опыт работы, он одновременно является главным редактором серии по демократии издательства «Кембридж Юниверсити Пресс», он написал огромное количество работ с участием самых видных ученых со всего мира, поэтому проблем с приглашением видных специалистов по проблемам демократии из самых разных стран у нас не было
Я надеюсь, что книга окажется серьезным поводом для стимулирования дальнейшей дискуссии как по проблемам демократии и вызовам к демократическим институтам и ценностям, так и дискуссии о природе политического режима России и о том, в каком направлении развивается этот режим
Summary
Именно поэтому он высказал идею о том, что нам следовало бы создать какуюто площадку на Западе для того, чтобы там российские и западные ученые обсуждали проблемы демократии, политического развития на Западе и в России на экспертном уровне обсуждали наиболее острые и важные вопросы, по которым есть разногласия и расхождения.
