Abstract

John Hirsch and Tom Hendry helped found the Manitoba Theatre Centre in 1958. In 1966, Hirsch left the company but has been back many times since as a guest director. When MTC opened its new building in November 1970, it was Hirsch who was there to stage its first production — Brecht’s A Man’s A Man. Now head of CBC Television Drama, Hirsch still takes an interest in MTC’s affairs. He was interviewed for CTR by free-lance journalist Harvey Chusid.
