Abstract
Review Objective: The objective of this review is to present the best available evidence for the effectiveness of interventions designed to reduce the incidence of falls in adult patients during hospitalisation. Review Question: How effective are interventions that are designed to reduce the incidence of falls in adult patients during hospitalisation when compared with standard practice or no intervention? Inclusion Criteria: Types of Participants: The review will consider all studies that involved adult patients (aged 18 years or over) in acute care hospitals. Types of Intervention(s): The interventions of interest include those designed to assess the risk of falling or those used to minimise the risk of falling in adult hospital patients. These interventions will be compared to either standard practice, which includes any method or technique already in place at the facility, or no intervention Type of Outcome: This review will consider studies where the outcome of interest is the number of patient falls during hospitalisation.
