Abstract

DOI: https://doi.org/10.32444/IJSW.2018.79.3.351-368 This article discusses the unjust social practices experienced by widows and the lack of policy-guided interventions in Binga District, Matabeleland North Province in Zimbabwe. Reviewed literature exposed psychosocial problems of widows, policy and practice gaps in addressing the needs of the marginalised widows. A critical discussion of professional and local level interventions indicate that widows remain emotionally burdened and struggle to meet survival needs. This article aims to expose intervention gaps and catalyse the discussion on ways to address the problems of widowhood through inclusive policies and practice in Zimbabwe
