Abstract
Bronchoscopy refers to examination of the tracheobronchial tree via a rigid or flexible bronchoscope. For the management of lung cancer, bronchoscopy is used in both diagnostics and therapeutics. The primary role for bronchoscopy in lung cancer is in the diagnostic evaluation of peripheral lung lesions and mediastinal lymph nodal staging. At this time, therapeutic bronchoscopy is primarily reserved for complications of advanced disease, specifically central airways tumor invasion and hemoptysis. This article reviews the current landscape of interventional bronchoscopy in lung cancer management.
