Abstract

Introduction Gender violence can be defined as «any act or intention that causes physical, sexual or psychological suffering to women, including threats, coercion or arbitrary privation of freedom, in public or private life». The specific needs of these women are multidimensional, so it demands sanitary interventions that take into account biological, psychological and social aspects. Objectives To identify nursing interventions for the attention of gender violence. Methodology To carry out a bibliographic research in the following scientific databases: PubMed, Cuidatge, Cuiden and ScienceDirect. Analyze and compare the results obtained from the research in order to answer said questions. Results The final results of the bibliographic research are 23 articles. Discussion Nursing interventions might involve the following actions: embrace the victims; ask open-ended questions; try to understand and reinterpret the symptoms; give a biopsychosocial assessment; inform and advise about the available resources; record all the interventions in the victim’s medical record; write an injury report; arrange for follow-up visits; develop an individualized care plan and educational campaigns. Conclusions Nursing interventions are necessary to prevent, detect and address gender violence. A more specific formation is necessary, as well as to study in depth the keys elements of our approach, the protocols’ effectiveness, the interventions on children, and the relationship between suicide and gender violence.
