Abstract

Interval type-2 fuzzy sets are able to model and minimize the numerical and linguistic uncertainties associated with the inputs and outputs of the fuzzy logic controller (FLC). The main objective of this paper is to implement an interval type-2 FLC for controlling the multivariable anaesthesia system to overcome the uncertainty problem that introduced by large inter-individual and intra-individual variability of the patient's parameters. Simulation results show good performance over a wide range of inter and intra-individual variability of parameters. Also these show good performance under the effect of disturbance and noise environment. Results also show the interval type-2 FLC affords some improvements in performance over type-1 FLC.
