Abstract

The dynamic analysis of structures with uncertain parameters is a very significant research field in engineering [1]–[3]. Recently, the interval analysis method has been used to deal with the static response, natural frequencies and dynamic response of structures with bounded uncertain (interval) parameters [4]–[5]. In their studies, several important results have been obtained by using interval analysis and matrix perturbation techniques. In perturbation methods, the uncertainty of all the structural parameters are expressed as small parameters in the structural mass and stiffness matrices. These small parameters are not interval variables, but simply small values. Therefore, their methods can not reflect the effect of the uncertainty of the individual parameters on the structural analytical results.
