Abstract

The bone density of five proximal femora from female cadavers was measured with computer tomography using a pixel size of 1.2 mm. A three-dimensional reconstruction was performed along 4 axes. The region of maximum relative bone density correlated well with previous reports of an optimal position for the screw when treating an intertrochanteric femoral fracture.
