We manipulated thermal and desiccation stress, herbivores, and nutrients in the rocky intertidal zone at the Bodega Marine Reserve in northern California over 18 months to determine their effects on seaweed biodiversity (cover, abundance, species richness, diversity, evenness). Intertidal stress reduced biodiversity independently of herbivory, which strongly influenced seaweed abundance. Intertidal Stress and Herbivory Reduce Seaweed Biodiversity
