Intersymbol interference and timing jitter performance of realisable data transmission filters

Abstract

An analytic solution to the intersymbol interference and timing jitter suppression problems for optimal realisable data transmission filters is presented. By analysing the performance of several practical filters, a design graph and a mathematical expression giving the relationship between bandwidth, degree of filter and percentage eye closure are given.
