Abstract

The new expression for the diffusion coefficient in solids is formulated by making use of quantization of the energy of the diffusing interstitial atom vibration in the potential well. It predicts that the behavior of diffusion coefficient deviates considerably at high temperatures in the Arrhenius relation. It is urged that careful measurements of diffusion coefficients with low activation energy should be carried out in such solids as silver halides.
