Abstract

Interstellar extinction curves have been derived from photoelectric scanner observations of twenty-two reddened early-type stars in a region of the Southern Milky Way, including the galactic centre. It has been found that considerable variations exist and that these are not directly related to position in the galactic plane. This indicates that the extinction law for these stars is influenced significantly by the physical conditions prevailing in local dust clouds.
