Abstract

In a state‐level analysis, relative export efficiencies are regressed on the capital (labor) intensity of production across industries. Resulting parameters are regressed on human and physical capital endowments. Factor endowments are significant, but account for limited variation; global product demand, scale economies, and industrial inertia may also be important determinants.
