Abstract

The concept of intersectionality was promulgated by Kimbrele Crenshaw in a 1989 article in which Crenshaw challenged the value of feminist theory to Black women. While acknowledging the origin of the concept, this chapter expands the discussion of intersectionality to the discussion of the impact of new critical theories on ecofeminist literature. Cultural concepts, such as postcolonialism, posthumanism, speculative realism, affect theory, the Anthropocene and the Capitalocene, new materialism or vital materialism, object-oriented ontology, critical animal studies, will be brought into the reading strategy of ecofeminist literature. By doing so, I demonstrate that the entanglements of ecology and feminisms are more complicated than ever.
