Abstract

Aim: Theoretical substantiation and empirical confi rmation of the interrelation between the components of a person’s psychological time at the retirement period of life and subjective well-being. Methodology: Theoreti-cal analysis of the literature on the research topic, psychodiagnostic method, methods of mathematical statistics. For Interrelation of Temporal Focus, Subjective Age and Subjective Well-Being of People in Retirement 57data collection, the following methods were used: “Temporal Focus Scale” by A. Shipp, “Age-of-me” by B. Barak and “Life Satisfaction Scale” by E. Diener. The study was conducted in 2022, during the work 223 pensioners were interviewed, living in Chelyabinsk and the Chelyabinsk region. Results: In the course of the study, a number of interrelations between components of the psychological life time (temporal focus and subjective age) and the sub-jective well-being of pensioners were found. Association between physical and cognitive-emotional components of subjective age with subjective well-being confi rms that people who think that they look and feel younger thantheir chronological age are more satisfi ed with their life in retirement. A correlation between subjective well-being and a focus on the present was found, that is evidence that a person who is deeply involved in the processes taking place in the present, who is not inclined to “get stuck” in memories and is not absorbed by worries about the future feels more prosperous. It has been established the existence of the correlation between the intellectual component of subjective age (“assessment of the age” of one’s own interests and hobbies in comparing with the interests of people of a certain age) and the focus on the present and future time. Research implications: The study contributes to the understanding of the relationship between the subjective perception of life in retirement and the feeling of life satisfaction. The results provide a basis for further research into the role of psychological life span in success-ful post-retirement secondary socialization.
