Abstract

Summary This poster will demonstrate examples from a basin exploration context of the use of colourblending gravity gradients and highlight the differences between using amplitude-based image analysis and textural/phase-based image analysis. Examples are shown from northwestern Australia from so-called “hard rock” environments where the geology is outcropping at surface, to another region not far to the north where the basement is deeply buried by basin sediment of Paleozoic to recent age. Emphasis will be given on future use of this type of analysis of gravity gradient in fields such as machine learning and structural domain classification.
