Abstract

Neutron scattering experiments have been carried out in order to elucidate the interplay between antiferromagnetism and superconductivity in UPd 2Al 3. The (0 0 0.5), (0 0 1.5), and (1 0 0.5) antiferromagnetic Bragg peaks exhibit remarkable reduction of the peak intensities below the superconducting transition temperature T c. We observed an inelastic peak due to magnetic excitation gap associated with superconductivity at the antiferromagnetic Bragg points. These results are indicative of the strong interplay between antiferromagnetism and superconductivity.
