Abstract
This letter proposes a novel interplanted patch-monopole array. The adjacent and nonadjacent isolations are significantly enhanced by manipulating two types of mutual couplings. The proposed array is simple in structure and can be easily extended to large scale linear arrays. The air-dielectric patch antenna with a slot has a wide bandwidth and compact size. Besides, the antenna array is mainly constructed using metal (no dielectric loss), so the radiation efficiency is very high. For verification, a four-element array with center-to-center spacing of 0.467 λ 0 has been designed and prototyped. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed array features compact layout, enhanced port isolation, high radiation efficiency, and good pattern diversity.
