Abstract

Interest in fine-tuning development models to create and bring new technical work to market is high within standards bodies. Engaging any model without understanding the legal and cultural features as well as the technical ecosystems can lead to less than optimal results and possible misalignment with goals of stakeholders, especially for contributors to and users of the work. Societal and government interests have a stake too. This article describes aspects of the standards model for developing inter-operative standards in context. It addresses the open source development model and how models might interact or be adjusted productively.
