Abstract

Increasing globalisation and competition for perfection heightens the importance of internet use and benefits in procurement. The traditional procurement channels in IT industry have been outpaced by the use of internet in developing nations too. This descriptive and conclusive research considers the perceived use of procurement activities such as information gathering, inter organisational information exchange, negotiation, bidding and payment as well as online ordering activities on one hand. Next, it focuses on perceived benefits such as ease of use, ease of price and product/service comparison, ease of information access and exchange as well as reduction in paper, time and money. Coefficient of correlation, mean and standard deviation are used to examine the perceived internet use and benefits in procurement for the IT industry in the Indian sub continent.
