Abstract

AbstractSevere Acute Respiratory Syndrome virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), a viral infection of novel coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China, led to panic among the public and health care professionals due to its rapid spread around the world. Health care professionals and researchers at present days are targeting various approaches for the detection and prevention of viral growth. One of the best approaches to tackle this pandemic is the implementation of the Internet of Health things (IoHT) based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) approaches in healthcare. Internet of Health Things (IoHT) is a smart technology-based approach where a person can take self-care by the use of existing technology approaches. The first objective of this chapter is to provide a comprehensive review of IoHT-based approaches used in the prevention, detection, and control of SARS CoV-2 transmission, and the second objective is to provide knowledge on the future pandemics and their control by IoHT. We conducted an electronic search strategy in the Pub Med database, Google Scholar, and other technology-related websites that utilized the IoHT against the novel coronavirus. All the suitable free full-text articles are extracted and included in the study. In this chapter, by gathering various recent literature evidence, we clearly explained the implementation of IoHT technologies at various stages of corona pandemic for both health care settings and the common public to effectively cope up with the COVID-19 outbreak and also for future pandemics.KeywordsInternet of health things (IoHT)Artificial intelligence (AI)Virtual toolsCOVID-19Future pandemicsPrevention and control strategies
