Abstract

This paper reports on the Singapore Internet Project 2007 survey findings on the uses and impact of the Internet of a random sample of 884 Singaporeans aged 13 and above. The study showed that the Internet has become an essential part of live for the majority of the people in terms of communication and information seeking. The survey data showed that the Internet is a bane as well as a boon for the people when it comes to social contact, face-to-face interactions, leisure, and work/study life. The findings highlights the areas where further research will be needed to examine the long term impacts of the Internet.
