Abstract

This paper introduces an internet-based Virtual Instrument (VI) tool for power quality (PQ) monitoring system. In the system, current and voltage are measured using a handmade measurement board from distribution panel and then measured values are transferred to the computer via data acquisition board. The obtained data is analyzed using the software written in LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench) programming language. The PQ disturbances such as harmonic, interruptions, voltage sag, voltage swell, power factor and frequency, etc. are all presented in the paper. Internet based communication functions are integrated into the developed PQ monitoring system. The experimental results show that the proposed internet-based PQ monitoring system can successfully monitor PQ disturbances.
