Abstract

The internet’s rapid development has fundamentally altered human society. While the internet has provided human with unprecedented convenience and efficiency and has become crucial to their lives, learning, and work, it has also created a number of social challenges, including internet addiction. Multiple studies have been carried out from diverse viewpoints to investigate the topic of internet dependency among children. Based on an analysis of prior studies, the purpose of this paper is to present an overview of internet addiction among Chinese college students, explain its causes, and summarize its detrimental effects in order to provide recommendations for future research on the subject.
