Abstract

The Research and Teaching Department of the Vall d’Hebron Hospitals was formed according to a government bill issued on December 12, 1990, recommending the creation of several Research Departments under the umbrella of the Catalan Institute of Health. The campus consists of 3 hospitals devoted to General Medicine, Materno-Pediatry, and Traumatology, and 4 buildings for central services: Blood Bank, Microbiology, Anatomical-Pathology, Central Administration and Research Department. The number of beds is 1,453; the number of staff is 6,800 (1,319 medical).
