Abstract

The rapid growth of multinational enterprises originating in East Asian economies, especially over the last two decades, has attracted much academic interest on the internationalization patterns of these firms. In this introduction, we outline insights on analyzing the internationalization of East Asian firms in general and review the broad context of academic research on the internationalization of enterprises from mature industrial economies as well as emerging markets. To highlight the contributions of the articles in this issue, we describe the new evidence based on empirical findings from research presented in the individual articles and suggest implications for future research.
