Abstract
The aim of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) Working Party on Chemical Weapons Destruction Technologies is to carry out a comprehensive review of technologies for destruction of chemical weapons. Though there is much published information about the technologies that some countries use or intend to use, there is a paucity of information about the proven effectiveness of the destruction technology, especially with respect to the freedom from environmental pollution of the process. Some of the available information emphasises the technology or technologies preferred by a nation. The Working Party intends to carry out an objective comparison of proven destruction technologies.
