Abstract

The International Social Survey Program (ISSP) studies societies in comparative and temporal perspective. Since its founding in 1984 by Australia, Germany, Great Britain, and the United States, the ISSP has grown to cover 49 countries. Substantive topics and specific measures are repeated at regular intervals and include such themes as the role of government, national identity, work orientation, and social inequality.
