International OMFS specialists working in the UK and UK trained specialists working overseas – where are we now and how might loss of mobility associated with Brexit change this

Abstract

Introduction: UK OMFS training was recognised under Directive 2005/36/EC and the specialty listed in Annex V – Dental, Oral & Maxillo-Facial Training (Basic medical and dental training). Nations whose OMFS was listed in the same part of Annex V could work in the UK. Nations whose specialty is listed elsewhere in Annex V e.g. Maxillo-Facial Surgery (basic medical training) or from nations outside the European Economic Area (EEA) could gain OMFS listing only through the CESR route.
