Abstract

Nearly 3000 pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, academics, and others gathered in Istanbul, Turkey, September 3–8 for the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) 69th World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The congress, in addition to featuring speakers from around the world, provides leaders of national associations of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists the opportunity to discuss issues of global importance and vote in new FIP statements and guidelines. This year marked the fourth congress that ASHP Executive Vice President Henri R. Manasse Jr. attended as both a leader of a national organization and a member of the FIP Executive Committee. The FIP Council, with 122 member organizations, adopted a document expressing the group’s policy on quality assurance of pharmacy education.
